Sakuragawa U Series High Capacity Pump (U-4158A)

A large recycling firm in Sydney was opening a new site, but to meet EPA and local government approval due to the nature of the work conducted on site, a surface water management plan had to be in place. As part of the management plan it was deemed that all surface water run-off must be captured and treated on site before discharge.

Everything Water Australia (EWA) provided the waste water treatment plant that the recycling firm required to adhere to these conditions. The plant process involved:

  • Surface water drains through constructed swales (infiltration basins designed to manage water runoff) into a large capacity drainage pit for collection.
  • The water is then pumped at 46 L/s to an untreated water storage panel tank of 360,000 litres.
  • Once enough contaminated water is collected, water is transferred to a poly feed tank where PH adjustment and hydrocarbon removal happens.
  • The water is then drawn from the feed tank through the EWA treatment plant which uses aeration and flocculation systems and filters down to 5 micron followed by a chlorination system to treat the water.
  • Finally the treated water is pumped to a recycled water storage tank for discharge/re-use depending on EPA test results.

An environmental engineers report specified flow rate, distance travelled and meters head required for this project. Everything Water Australia engaged Brown Brothers Engineers who were able to supply a suitable pump to the required specifications. The Sakuragawa U Series High Capacity Pump (U-4158A) was the pump to fulfil the brief.

The Sakuragawa U Series High Capacity submersible pumps are powerful, efficient and dependable. They are designed to be used for major dewatering jobs, particularly when bigger volumes of water are required to be handled. They have extremely high capacity and are excellent in heavy duty orientated conditions.

Upon delivery the recycling plant client commented “This pump is huge” and it “looks really good, great job” to the Everything Water Australia team. The pump has been installed and is working to the clients satisfaction, meeting all specifications.
